Ethiopia in Crisis: A Nation Bleeding in Silence
Since 2018, the Ethiopian government, led by Abiy Ahmed Ali, has been killing civilians all over the country—from the north to the south and from the west to the east. Thousands of people have lost their lives, and the government justifies these actions by calling them “peacekeeping.” Every single day, innocent Amhara lives are being lost to relentless drone strikes, women, children, and families torn apart in an instant. This ongoing nightmare has turned villages into graveyards and homes into ruins. The silence of the world in the face of such brutality is heartbreaking.
Many people have been forced to leave their homes in fear of war. They have fled to other parts of Ethiopia or even to other countries, becoming refugees. Young people have been arrested and sent to detention camps without any trial. In these camps, they face brutal torture, and many have disappeared without a trace. The government is also targeting the families of journalists, human rights activists, and political figures to silence them. People living near the capital city are being forced out of their homes without any compensation, all in the name of “modernizing” the city. These evictions often target specific ethnic groups.
The situation is becoming more dangerous every day. We cannot afford to look away. Let’s raise our voices for those who can no longer speak. Stand in solidarity with the Amhara people, demand an end to these atrocities, and call for justice and accountability. The international community needs to act quickly to stop this government’s genocidal and oppressive actions. If nothing is done soon, Ethiopia could end up destroyed and divided, like Yugoslavia, Libya, or Syria.
